GS St Tite Butereri Joins the World in Celebrating Safer Internet Day 2025
On February 28, 2025, GS Butereri joined the global community in celebrating Safer Internet Day 2025 under the theme “Think Before You Click: Online Safety Starts with You.”
This event emphasized the importance of fostering a safer, more responsible digital environment for all users, especially young learners. The theme aligns with the global theme “Together for a Better Internet,” reinforcing the collective responsibility in creating a safer and better Internet for kids.
The celebration brought together key stakeholders, including parents, teachers, students, and officials from Bugesera District, the Internet Society Rwanda Chapter, and the Ministry of ICT and Innovation. Their presence reinforced the commitment to strengthening digital safety and equipping students with essential skills to navigate the online world securely.
A highlight of the event was the participation of GS St Tite Butereri Safer Internet Club, which showcased a cultural performance and a thought-provoking theatre piece reflecting this year’s theme. Through engaging storytelling and artistic expression, students demonstrated the real-life implications of online risks and the proactive steps necessary to stay safe in the digital space.
During the event, speakers emphasized the role of collective action in promoting digital literacy, combating cyber threats, and encouraging responsible online behavior. Discussions centered on cybersecurity awareness, privacy protection and the ethical use of digital platforms, equipping attendees with the knowledge to become responsible digital citizens.
